AMLA Vice-Chair Juan Manuel Vega Serrano took part in a panel discussion on the growing threat of organised crime at the Foro La Toja – Vínculo Atlántico in Galicia, Spain, on 3 October 2026.
The panel reflected on how organised crime has evolved over the past three decades, connecting developments across Latin America, Spain and the European Union. Alongside Vega Serrano were Óscar Naranjo, former Vice-President of Colombia and former Director General of the National Police, and Ana Villagómez, Anti-Drug Delegate Prosecutor of the Cádiz-Ceuta Provincial Prosecutor's Office. The discussion was moderated by Maite Rico, Deputy Director of The Objective.
Vega Serrano contributed the perspective of the fight against money laundering, including the role of crypto-assets, and AMLA's work in building a more coordinated European response to financial crime.
