Target audience
AMLA’s public consultations are open to all stakeholders with an interest in the EU’s anti‑money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) framework. We particularly welcome contributions from Financial Intelligence Units, public authorities, obliged entities, supervisory authorities, self-regulatory bodies, international institutions and organisations, civil society organisations, consumer representatives, academia, and investigative journalists.
The rules place no direct obligations on private companies, but practitioners with relevant experience are welcome to respond.
Why we are consulting
Stakeholder input on these draft standards is important to ensure that the central AML/CFT database supports effective, risk-based supervision in practice.
The draft RTS establish a central AML/CFT database to support the exchange of supervisory information across the Union and to make AML/CFT supervision more targeted, risk-based and effective. The database will serve as a single entry point for standardised reporting and as a repository of supervisory information at both entity and system level, giving supervisory authorities reliable access — on a confidential, need-to-know basis — to the comprehensive data they need to carry out their functions. It also aims to make reporting more predictable and streamlined, and to limit reporting costs where possible.
For this consultation, AMLA is gathering stakeholder views through a public hearing on the draft standards. Interested stakeholders are invited to take part in the hearing, details of which are set out below.
Data protection
AMLA ensures the protection of personal data while consulting citizens and stakeholders online. Further information can be found in the Record of Processing Activity for consultations and the Privacy Statement on public hearings.
