Before this appointment Ms Verbeek-Kusters served as Head of the FIU-the Netherlands, after she had held several leading positions in the Netherlands Police, including in the department of the Netherlands Police involved in fighting international organized crime.
Ms Verbeek-Kusters has led the FIU-NL from 2008 until April 2026, during that period she has also been chairing the Egmont Group of Financial Intelligence Units as Chair for two terms, totaling 4 years.
She holds a master's degree in Police Management.
