Vasse outlined AMLA's mission to help Europe move from a fragmented system to a more coherent one, summarising this ambition in three objectives: seeing better through a shared understanding of risk, acting more precisely through coherence and proportionality, and working more closely together through strengthened cooperation.
The Executive Director reflected on AMLA's growth since he joined in September 2025, noting the Authority had expanded from around 30 staff to 150, with plans to reach approximately 430 by the end of next year. He highlighted two distinctive features of AMLA: the integration of supervision and financial intelligence coordination under one roof, and the opportunity to build systems for the current era without legacy infrastructure.
Vasse emphasised that AMLA's success will depend on the quality of cooperation, noting the daily work with the ACPR and Tracfin as an example of what a connected European system can look like.
